Paisley park - PRINCE

Chanhassen, MN

Located in Chanhassen, MN (just outside of Minneapolis), Prince’s iconic studio compound was groundbreaking for it’s time.  Completed in 1988, it still stands today, as an everlasting testament to the singer’s legacy as an artist & visionary.

Sitting on a nine-acre property, the 55,000 sq. ft. complex includes a 12,400 sq. ft. sound stage, two recording studios, dance rehearsal studio, costume department, record company offices, residence & vault.  Having all these facilities under one roof allowed Prince the ability to record albums, rehearse for tours, choreograph & film movies on site.

While Prince recorded 29 of his own albums here, the state of the art facility drew well known artist from all over.  Originally designed for analog equipment, the studios were updated with digital equipment later.  The sound stage was used by many notable names to rehearse prior to going on tour, and has also served as a filming space for numerous commercials.

The building was voted No. 1 by readers of National Trust for Historic Preservation Magazine as the Most Interesting Building under 40 years old!
