BOTO was hired to reposition what was formerly a 2-story rehabilitation facility in Santa Monica, for a TV/Film editorial company. The original space consisted of a common area with a kitchen on the ground floor and small shared rooms on the second floor. New enlarged exterior windows and a row of linear skylights on the second floor were added to bring ample natural light to the space. The ground floor was reenvisioned as a full edit suite - complete with six edit/flame bays, a large kitchen & a lounge area. An existing courtyard was reclaimed for additional square footage & connects to the parking lot & alley behind. On the second floor are executive offices, artist bullpens & meeting spaces. An exterior deck was cut in along the rear side of the building to provide a covered & protected outdoor meeting space. Polished concrete floors, updated finishes, new landscaping, and an eyebrow canopy over the entry give the fully renovated building a new presence and identity.
