With the end of private jet landings at the Santa Monica airport, BOTO Design’s client seized the opportunity to fill the void and decided to build a new jet facility. With its proximity to LAX, downtown Los Angeles, and the westside, Hawthorne Municipal Airport was perfectly situated for the new endeavor. Located on the south side of the runway, this ground-up project consisted of two large prefabricated metal buildings - one housing two 25,000 SF aircraft hangars, and the other serving as a two-story office building. The office building functions not only as a space for the center’s operations teams but also provides many amenities for the aircraft customers and serves as a passenger terminal.
